Another one was a buy it now on ebay with out the ribbon like this and sold for $3500.00. This medal has a very nice evan brown patina on both the oberverse and reverse . He first enlisted in the US Navy in September of 1919, and was awarded this Good Conduct medal, in September of 1923. He must have taken a short break from the Navy because his next reenlistment bar is dated in September of 1929. Again he must have taken another Navy break as his third reenlistment bar reads 1938 on the front. He must have then joined the Reserves, because he shows up in December of 1940 muster rolls and is recalled to active duty and assigned to the USS Hannibal, as a Chief Storekeeper. In March and April of 1941, he shows up in the muster rolls as still attached to the USS Hannibal. On December 31, 1941, he is transferred to the Navy Recruiting Station in Richmond, VA. In December of 1943, he is elevated to Assistant Paymaster. The 1947 Navy Register has him as a Lieutenant Commander, with the Supply Corps Paymasters promoted in March of 1946. The 1962 Navy Retirement list has him retired in June of 1950, at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He died on February 6, 1969, at Hillsborough, FL, and is buried at the Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, VA.I will provide a three page copy of his FOIA military records, 5 copies of his muster roll notations, 3 copies of his Navy Register notes, a copy of his obituary from the Tampa Tribune, and a copy of a picture of his headstone. I should note that his records also mention that he was authorized to the Purple Heart medal, the Combat Action ribbon, the Yangtze Service medal, the EAME Campaign medal, the Navy Rifle and Pistol badges, and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin (Ruptured Duck), but if issued the whereabouts are unknown.
