WW2 Essex Action Report Navy Airforce Medal Grouping Photos Pilot War Hero Squad
CollectionHero
Amazing effects of lieutenant commander Thomas Hamil Reidy is naval reserve fighter pilot, he was given at least 5 medals leading his squadron and personal destroying at least 10 hostile aircraft, including the last aircraft to be shot down in the war! Mr Reidy also bombed a Japanese heavy cruiser Tone ! I would think the crown jewel of this group is the action report which is massive and must be 1 of a kind with original photographs and maps etc just about everything you would ever need to know about what the Essex was up to! 2 fantastic photos , 2 packed flight log books , medals ,Below was taken from the internet. This guy was undoubtably the star of the flight crew.!The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Thomas Hamil Reidy, Lieutenant, U.S. Navy (Reserve), for extraordinary heroism in operations against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a carrier-based Navy Fighter Plane in Fighting Squadron EIGHTY-THREE (VF-83), embarked from the U.S.S. ESSEX (CV-9), in action on 24 July 1945, while deployed over the Pacific War Area. His outstanding courage and determined skill were at all times inspiring and in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service CHICAGO Feb. 27 (UPI) —T. Hamil Reidy, who is thought to have been the last Naval pilot to shoot down a Japanese plane in World War II, died Saturday. He was 60 years old.On Sept. 2, 1945, Mr. Reidy was flying over Tokyo Bay and saw a Japanese plane heading out, apparently to bomb an American ship. He left his formation and shot the plane down.“I remember looking at my watch as he dropped into Tokyo Bay,” Mr. Reidy later recalled. “It was just 5:35 A.M. Seven minutes later, the word came over the radio that the war was over.”The plane was the 10th the Navy pilot shot down in the Pacific theater. He received two Navy Crosses.

Hero of the Soviet Union. ????? ?????????? ?????. The medals set.
CollectionHero
The history of these medals began and immediately ended on the very last day of the existence of the Soviet Union, when in Moscow, in the building of the Soviet Government, a group of honored military men was awaiting rewarding for the valiant service to the Soviet Union. However, instead of an honorable ceremony, the heroes were fussyly handed over medals and documents and asked to fill out their documents at home, since the Government building was already occupied by employees of the new government. The person who received these medals was very modest. He did not fill out these documents w

1898 Spainish American War Dewey medal Tiffany Made Medal 1825 made I D'ed RARE
CollectionHero
This is 1 of only 1825 issued during the spanish american war . This medal made by tiffany & co edged engraved for the recipient ROBERT WORMALD an OILER aboard the USS RALEIGH. This medal is made of bronze , struck by tiffany & co the artist was Daniel Chester French (who also sculted the a seal at the Lincoln memerial and the minuteman staue in Concord Mass. You had to be aboard 1 of 6 US SHIPS IN THE BATTLE OF MAILA BAY MAY 1 1898 in the Philipines and was the 1'st major engagement of the Spanish - American War . The manila bay medal (also known as the DEWEY MEDAL) was a military decoration of the US navy which was established by the US congress on 6/3/1898. The medal reconized the leadrership of the admiral of the US navy Goearge Dewey , during the Spanish - American War ,and the sailors and marines under his command. The medal was created to reconize the forces of the US navy & marines who participated in the battle of the manila bay . To be awarded the Dewey medal , A service member must have served on one of the following vessels on may 1 1898: USS BALTIMORE ,USS BOSTON, USS CONCORD, USS McCULLOCH, USS HANSHAN, the USS OLYPIA , the USS PETREL and the USS RALIEGH . Unfortunately the ribbon is missing and part of the stick pin but these medals rarely come up for sale on the market and the last 3 records I found they had the blue edged ribbon with the gold center stripe . 1 was on ebay and had 33 bids and sold $4172.22 and another was an online auction through (emadal dewey medal ) and sold for $5250.00 with a torn ribbon. . Another one was a buy it now on ebay with out the ribbon like this and sold for $3500.00. This medal has a very nice evan brown patina on both the oberverse and reverse . This is a fresh Connecticut estate find along with several other Spanish - American war items I just listed .

Chinese Republic Order of the Cloud & Banner Military Medal w Box RARE #80 WWii
CollectionHero
Rare and unique order medal from the China Republic, featuring the Order of the Cloud design. The medal comes with its original box and is a great addition to any militaria collection. The conflict aspect of this item is the World War II era (1939-45), while the Country/Region of Manufacture and Region of Origin are both China. This medal is an original period item and is sure to be a valuable addition to any collection. Medal weighs 24.3 grams, with ribbon weights 24.8 grams. Metal measures 2 3/8" across x 2 3/8" tall. Stamped #80, a very low #, compared to the ones that have sold, stamped in the thousands. Please note that this has been in my private collections for years. Sorry, I don't have documentation to show who was the original recipient. I, too, have another medal listed, so please see my other auctions. Item was silver acid tested and does show some signs of silver content, the exact percentage is unknown. The enamel shows some wear and inperfections. Please view all pictures for full details. See photos 7 & 8 for more details. The box measures 5 7/8" tall x 3 1/4" wide x 1 3/8" in depth. Box is made out of cardboard; with cloth wrapping. This unique military item has a 3rd embossed area on the back, I have not seen another with that embossment. I attempted to draw and google translate all three of the asian markings but could only get a partial translation (please see said picture / drawing). The 3rd marking may have to do with this item being a low #. Medal & Ribbon comes with the original box that too includes an extra ribbon. The medal was not cleaned to preserve the integrity of the piece. I will leave this to the new owner, should they wish to clean same. I recommend researching this piece to see the starting price on the rare piece is fair. However, with the unique numbering, this could be a higher valued piece. BUYERS with zero; low trasactions ratings (that is have feed back ratings under 20); have receive or given 2 negative feedbacks in the last 6 months must get my approval to bid, otherwise your bid may be retracted or cancelled, should you win this item. By bidding, you agree to these terms. Questions, please ask. Thanks, and happy bidding on the rare and unique item. Item will be insured. I HAVE ANOTHER METAL ALSO LISTED, SO PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER LISTINGS. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

It was conceptualized around 1749-1750, following the conclusion of the Peace Treaty of Aachen in 1748. The Order was officially founded during the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763), on June 18, 1757.Count Leopold Joseph Daun reorganized the army in the late 1740s, which included the creation of a ‘military order of honour.’ This Order contained three classes and a pension that the recipient would receive. The first designs for the order included a white Maltese cross with the central medallion inscribed with the monarchs’ initials on one side, and the other side to have the words “Fortitude” “Virtuti Militari”, or “Praemium Fortitudinis” It was officially named “Military Maria Theresa Order” in early 1757, which was intended to express the gratitude and affection the Empress had for the soldiers. The first knights were inducted into the order March 7 and April 23, 1758 by Emperor Franz I, the first Grand Master of the Order. The Order official ceased to exist in 1986, when the last recipient died. The Commander was conferred upon lower-ranking Generals and General Staff members for winning a campaign or battle. Please Check out my other items All items are guaranteed genuine !!INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ARE WELCOME WE SHIP WORLDWIDE IF YOU BUY MORE THAN ONE LOT - WE WILL COMBINE THE LOTS -NO EXTRA SHIPPING COST. Grouping of Spanish American War Military Medals for Charles Perkins
CollectionHero
eBay Grouping of Spanish American War Military Medals for Charles PerkinsHere we have a grouping of metals from the Spanish American war given to Charles Perkins. These are the metals that we had running on eBay a few weeks ago and we’re told it would be better to put them into a full grouping so here they are.We had some collectors offer information, such as Charles Perkins was an avid VFW member. The Medals came from an Estate of a Collector of Ephemera. The Medals include:United States Navy Constitution Fidelity Zeal Obedience Medal 1893, with the name C.S.C. No. 9329, Charles Perkins, U.S.S. Atlanta July 6, 1893. It has ribbon attached that looks like it had more attached, but this is all we have. Admiral William T Sampson Medal U.S. Naval Campaign West Indies 1898. William T. Sampson, Commander In Chief (Military Bust) on Front. Santiago De Cuba July 3 (Battle Scene) on back. Along the rim of the Medal is the name Charles Perkins, also found another of the medals. There is also a bar attached that looks like it had a ribbon at one time, and says Santiago on front, and July 1 on back of the bar. There is another set of bars on a ribbon, with USS Indiana, San Juan PR May 12, a loose one Santiago June 22. Someone suggested that these 2 went together. Spanish American War Numbered United States Navy 1898 West Indies Campaign Service Medal, number 2596 as seen along the rim, and United States Navy for Service on back. It has remnants of on old ribbon, that is worn and torn. Vintage Veterans of Foreign Wars, U.S. Brass Medal. It measures about 1-1/4 inches, most like from when he was involved with the VFW. Last an Antique Spanish American War veteran’s cross and lapel pin. The cross is suspended from its original American Flag ribbon which has some minor fraying on the obverse side. The top Eagle suspender bar is complete with pin assembly and numbered 18757Please feel free to ask any questions we will do our best to try and answer them. Thanks for looking. My own researches have found 5 of these medals auctioned in the last 20 years so this would back my understanding that there are very few survivors. Apparently quite a lot of medals disappeared with their recipients when the ship was sunk by the Kormoran in 1941.
